New Health Insurance Requirement for Green Card Interview

Washington, D.C. – October 31, 2019: The Department of State (“DOS”) will implement the new Presidential Proclamation on Health Insurance for new Green Card Applicants. The new requirement goes into effect on November 3, 2019. The DOS will require most visa applicants (see exceptions in the attachment) to prove that they will be covered by approved health insurance within 30 days of entry into the United States or have the financial resources to pay for reasonably foreseeable medical cost.

A copy of the DOS policy implementing the Presidential Proclamation is attached.
