Washington, D.C. – December 19, 2018: After the White House signaled on Tuesday, December 18, that it will not insist on $5 billion in funding for construction of a border wall, the US Senate today passed a Continuing Budget Resolution that maintained funding at current levels and did not contain funding for the border wall. The Senate’s Continuing Budget Resolution will extend funding for the U.S. federal government until February 8, 2019. The Continuing Budget Resolution is needed because current funding of most federal government operations is set to expire on December 21, 2018. The next steps are for the US House of Representatives (lower chamber of the US Congress) to pass the Continuing Budget Resolution and for the bill to then be sent to the President for signature into law.
The Senate’s Continuing Budget Resolution will maintain existing programs unchanged, including the EB-5 Regional Center Program. In recent years the EB-5 Regional Center Program has had expiry dates that coincide with the term of Continuing Budget Resolutions while Congress negotiates reforms to the program.
