US Government Shutdown! USCIS is still processing petitions

Washington D.C., December 27, 2018 – The US Federal government is in its 5th day of the partial government shutdown that started at midnight on December 21, 2018.

The EB-5 Regional Center Program has lapsed along with several other US immigration programs have lapsed as of December 22, 2018.

USCIS has stated that it is continuing operations during the shutdown because it is a self funded agency whose revenue derived from filing fees paid by immigrant applicants.

Even though the EB-5 Regional Center Program expired at the end of the day on Dec. 21, 2018, USCIS will continue to receive and process regional center-affiliated Forms I-526, Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur, and Forms I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, after the close of business on Dec. 22, 2018.
